The 2009 NFC Championship Game between the Arizona Cardinals and the Philadelphia Eagles features two dueling curses: Arizona's Curse of the Pottsville Maroons versus Philly's Curse of Billy Penn.
In analyzing these two curses, it would seem that Philly has the advantage, since the 2008 Philadelphia Phillies won the World Series-- only after a small four inch figurine of William Penn was affixed to the Comcast Tower's highest beam. Â
Arizona, on the other hand, still appears to be affected by the Curse of Pottsville. The Cardinals currently hold the NFL record for the longest championship drought, and have not yet returned the 1925 title to the town of Pottsville, which-- appropriately enough, is only 93 miles from Philadelphia, home of the Eagles.
Neither team lost to Tampa Bay in 2008, so the Tampa Bay Curse should not be a factor.
